ENCUENTRO DE TRES MUNDOS
Trimex developed and installed audiovisual content and digital experiences for Encuentro de tres mundos, the Biblioteca Nacional's exhibition marking 500 years since the first circumnavigation of the globe, led by Ferdinand Magellan and completed by Juan Sebastián Elcano.
The work included video pieces, augmented reality experiences and content for the virtual exhibition. With them, visitors could explore the historical, geographical and cultural background of the voyage in several ways.
One of the central components was a grid of synchronized screens. To run it, Trimex built a video distribution system with Raspberry Pi terminals working in tandem, which coordinated playback and kept every device in sync. All the screens worked as a single visual composition.
The grid showed, at the same time, the indigenous peoples met along the route, their cultural representations, the ships of the voyage and the historical maps of the journey. Read together, these images related the explored territories, their inhabitants and the way maps represented them.
The augmented reality and virtual content linked documents, illustrations and historical records with contemporary visualization tools, and added new forms of heritage mediation to the exhibition.
Trimex's work covered audiovisual design, programming, hardware and software integration, multimedia distribution systems and the production of digital experiences.
